The application provides a comprehensive spatial overview of mineral resources, deposits and mining activities in the territory of the Slovak Republic.

What does the application display?

The application visualizes the administrative boundaries of exclusive deposits and deposit exploration divided into several categories:

  • Exclusive deposits:

    • Exclusive deposit certificates (OVL).

    • Protected deposit areas (CHLÚ).

    • Quarrying areas (DP).

  • Other deposits: Unreserved mineral deposit boundaries (LNN).

  • Deposit exploration: Point, line and area objects that represent deposit surveys of mineral resources (ore, non-ore and energy).

Update and link to the Geofond Archive

  • Data sources: Data is updated based on decisions on changes to the boundaries of DP and CHLÚ, write-offs of reserves by the District Mining Offices (OBÚ) and statistical reports on the state of deposits.

  • Electronic reports: Since 2016, the collection of statistical reports is taking place completely in electronic form.

  • Link to final reports: The attribution tables directly on the map contain links to the final reports stored in the Geofond Archive. These documents are also available to users via remote access after registration.

A look into history

The first digital version of data on exclusive deposits in the Slovak Republic was created in 2002 as part of the geological task “Relationship of the rock environment to the protection of nature and landscape”. Its main goal was to create layers of mining areas (DP) and protected deposit areas (CHLÚ) and analyze their intersections with protected nature areas (small-area protected areas – MCHÚ and large-area protected areas – VCHÚ).
