Soil is one of the basic components of the environment and this atlas represents the first work of such scope in our territory. The compilation was commissioned by the Research Institute of Soil Science and Soil Protection (VÚPOP). The original fieldwork (1991 – 1996) was based on 5,200 probes (density of 1 sample per 10 km²), which represented the main geomorphological and pedological conditions of the Slovak Republic.
🌐 More than just a digitized book: The web application brings an updated and expanded version of the original atlas. It integrates dozens of recent pedogeochemical research, expands the sample database and brings more precise, detailed maps for the surface A horizon of soils.
🧪 Monitored elements and soil properties
The application interactively presents spatial distribution at two levels – in surface humus horizons (A horizon) and in soil-forming substrates (C horizon):

36 trace elements: Sb, As, Ba, Be, Bi, B, Ce, Cs, Sn, K, F, P, Ga, Al, Mg, Cr, Cd, Co, La, Li, Mn, Cu, Mo, Ni, Pb, Hg, Rb, Se, Na, Sr, V, Ca, W, Y, Zn and Fe.

Variability of soil properties: Carbonate content, soil reaction [pH (H₂O) and pH (KCl)] and complete grain composition of soils.
