The climate change is manifested in selected areas of the Slovak Republic by the occurrence of long periods without precipitation, which cause serious problems related to the lack of drinking water for the local population. For this reason, it is necessary to provide substituting or new water resources with priority of the groundwater, which would ensure the population’s access to drinking water during a longer dry season. To ensure sufficient drinking water resources, a hydrogeological survey aimed at defining deficient areas and exploring new sources of the groundwater, needs to be carried out.
