The radiation burden of the population is among the significant environmental factors with a potentially negative impact on human health. Although public attention has long been focused mainly on artificial sources of ionizing radiation (such as nuclear power or nuclear weapons), in terms of total exposure, except for cases of nuclear accidents, natural sources of radiation represent the most significant share.
Since the main source of natural radon is the geological environment, obtaining relevant data on radioactivity of natural origin in the territory of Slovakia is essential.
Objectives and thematic units of monitoring
The main objective of monitoring is to document and comprehensively evaluate short-term (seasonal) and long-term (in the range of years to decades) variations of radon concentrations in the rock environment and in groundwater.
Monitoring of radon volume activity (OAR) in the territory of the Slovak Republic is carried out in three basic thematic units:

Web application functions
The web application serves to present and analyze measured data in annual monitoring cycles:

Data visualization: The data is presented through clear graphs assigned to individual monitoring points, which can be located directly on the map interfaces.

Variability tracking: Emphasis is placed on expressing seasonal variability in individual months of the year, as climatic conditions significantly affect OAR values in the geological environment.

Advanced search: The system allows filtering data using SQL queries and spatial selections according to:

geomorphological division of the territory of the Slovak Republic.
