The application “Physical Documentation of Wells” makes data on physical samples and cores from wells carried out in the Slovak Republic available. It serves as an important overview for the professional public who needs to work with real rock material.

Physical storage and scope of documentation

The physical documentation (HD) itself is physically stored and protected in three specialized storage facilities of the Dionýz Štúr State Geological Institute:

• Bratislava – Trnávka

• Kráľová pri Senci

• Betliar

📊 Facts in numbers: these warehouses contain material from more than 7,000 wells, which represents approximately 230 km of documented geological depth.

Database development and current status

• History of the register: The first digital version of this register was created in 2000, when the first selected structural boreholes were processed into the system.

• Data expansion: Other types of boreholes were gradually added to the database – mainly reservoir and mapping. Currently, the digital database contains information on more than 5,000 boreholes.

• Continuous updating: Due to the huge scope of archived material, not all boreholes have yet been processed in full. Some older records may be incomplete, but data is being supplemented and updated continuously.

Link to the Geofond Archive

The attribution tables of individual boreholes directly on the map contain a direct link to the final reports stored in the Geofond Archive. Registered users have the opportunity to fully view these documents via remote access.
