🏔️ The smallest mountains in the world with enormous wealth
The Tatras represent the northernmost and at the same time the highest mountain range of the entire Carpathian arc. Although they are among the smallest mountains in the world, they concentrate an extraordinary wealth of natural values and phenomena on a relatively small area. Their geological origin, relief modeling by glaciers and exceptional natural formations are the subject of constant scientific interest and admiration of visitors.
🌲 International Nature Conservation and NATURA 2000
The geological subsoil directly conditions the rare flora and fauna, which are protected at the highest level:

TANAP (Tatra National Park): The oldest national park in Slovakia, declared in 1949 (area 73,800 ha). It extends into the Žilina and Prešov regions (districts Poprad, Liptovský Mikuláš, Tvrdošín and Kežmarok).

Cross-border cooperation: In the north, the park borders the Polish Tatrzańskie Park Narodowy.

Ecological network: The territory includes European important sites and protected bird areas within the international system NATURA 2000, the aim of which is to save rare habitats and endangered species.
