Data core: Dynamic relational database of rock and semi-rock properties
The application processes the basic attributes and characteristics of the rock environment in a unified way, which are key to its engineering-geological behavior. It represents an invaluable source of data for solving engineering-geological, geotechnical, construction and mining tasks, as well as for experts from related disciplines who evaluate the rock environment from specific aspects.
⏳ Long-term research and data scope
The content of the atlas is the result of systematic data collection, which has been ongoing since the 1960s:
-
The research was carried out at more than 250 locations throughout Slovakia.
-
In summary and the application processes the final data from 146 selected locations in detail.
💻 Benefits of a relational database
The transition to a modern relational database brings fundamental technical advantages to geoportal users:
-
Repeated analyses: Almost unlimited possibilities for ongoing calculations using newly added data.
-
System flexibility: Possibility of operational adjustment of the structure and content of the database according to the needs of practice.
-
Open system: The atlas does not serve only as a static archive, but forms a reliable and living basis for the further development of research in the field of engineering geology.
